"This once unheralded terroir continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of proprietors Chantal and Gerard Perse. A new drainage system throughout the vineyard has been installed, and no doubt has increased the quality of this cuvee. Monbousquet's upbringing includes such Burgundy practices as malolactic in barrel, aging on its lees, and little or no manipulation. A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2006 is an elegant, pure, precise effort displaying hints of blueberries, raspberries, cherries, pain grille, espresso, and smoke. Sweet tannin, deep, medium to full-bodied flavors, and superb purity are found in this over-achieving St.-Emilion. It should drink well for 15 or more years." WA(91-93)
