07 Olivier Cousin Gamay Anjou Red $16.99
Deep cherry red in the glass with a shimmering ameythist rim. The nose is vibrantly alive with loads of crushed red and black cherries and backed by deep inflections of pounded limestone and a dusting of savory herbs. Sticky red cherry fruit dominates the palate on the attack while the bright underpinning of supple minerality and moderate tannins provides the finish of this biodynamic gem with an outstanding, lip-smacking succulence. Serve this with a slight chill as that will greatly boost the lively, fruit-forward attributes of this wine. This medium bodied Gamay has outstanding structure from start to finish and it works beautifully with hearty autum dishes and it is also absolutely perfect for thanksgiving as the bright red forward-fruit flavors on display provide a hearty ballast to traditional turkey-day standards.
08 Olivier Cousin “Le Cousin” Anjou Grolleau $18.49
Deep purple in the glass with a pretty red rim. The nose is loaded with ripe plums, cherries and limestone. The fruit and mineral components attack on the palate and make for a very ripe and very quaffable red. This is an easy-drinking biodynamic wine with outstanding concentration. Serve with a slight chill along- side herb encrusted roast chicken, roast pork loin, grilled lamb chops, rabbit pate and artisnal sausages.
’06 Le Mazel “Cuvee Briand” Vin de Pays de l'Ardeche $15.99
05 Thierry Germain Saumur Champigny Rouge $15.37
This enticing Saumur-Champigny is 100% Cabernet Franc and balances racy acidity with velvety tannins. On the nose ripe black raspberry aromas are joined by violet notes and tones of moist tobacco as well as a generous helping of earth. The wine always remains in control and on the palate it delivers velvety black raspberry and cherry along with pencil lead, black licorice, hints of cigar ash, and a long mineral laden finish. Excellent with vegetable dishes such as spinach quiche or wild mushroom omelet, or try it with black bean soup.
05 Domaine Rossignol-Trapet “Etelois” Burgundy $59.99
05 Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Teurons Beaune 1er Burgundy $52.99
NV Larmandier-Bernier Premier Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne $55.97
“Light yellow. Intense mineral, citrus and succulent herb aromas show an arresting pungency. Deep, powerful and focused, with superb depth to the lemon, green apple and wet stone flavors; bright, tangy acids contribute energy and focus. The concentrated, deep, minerally finish shows excellent length. I suspect that Champagne drinkers who do not crave minerality will find this tough going.”– IWC92
06 Cousin, Olivier Anjou, Breton $15.99
This Gamay is as natural and as good as biodynamic winemaking gets. It is a bright-dazzlingly so-and juicy expression of terroir driven Gamay. Ripe plum, juicy cherry, red apple core and damp chalk tones dominate the nose. Crushed strawberries mixed with invigoratingly fresh Bing cherry and red apple flavors explode on the palate. This beautiful expression of natural winemaking is best served slightly chilled.
07 L'Anglore “Cuvée des Traverses” Côtes du Rhône Red $21.99
L'Anglore Cuvée des Traveres is an old vines blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Mourvèdre, and 10 % Grenache. The nose carries lovely notes of herbs de Provence, black olive tapenade, a dusting of lavender, smoked meats, saddle leather and a soft inflection of sandy soil. In true organic style, the wine is somewhat cloudy in the glass, due to the lack of added sulfites. The palate is round and gently expressive with flavors of ripe black berry fruit, smoky terroir and lavender that roll along the palate simultaneously. It will pair well with a wide array of hearty dishes like lamb stew, grilled steak or strong aged cheeses.

06 Hilberg-Pasquero "Vareij" $15.99
The '06 Hilberg-Pasquero "Vareij", a blend of 80% Bracchetto and 20% Barbera (you don't see that every day!), is hand-harvested and fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. It is deep red raspberry-colored in the glass, with a nose of geraniums, raspberries, strawberries and a hint of black pepper. The firm acidity in the mouth brightens strawberry and red cherry fruit. The finish is fresh and clean with a note of chocolate adding complexity. This bright acidity makes the '06 "Vareij" a great partner to a vast array of foods. Try it with salume, herb-rubbed grilled fish, grilled sausages and potatoes or a creamy vegetarian lasagna.

06 Nit de Nin Priorat Garnacha Blend $81.99
06 Terra de Verema Triumvirat $38.99
”... Opaque purple-colored, the multidimensional perfume offers up pain grille, scorched earth, pencil lead, wild blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a large-scaled, layered, opulent Priorat with gobs of spicy, intense, silky fruit, great balance, and a long, pure finish.“– WA95
05 Clos Martinet Martinet Bru $35.99
“The 2005 Martinet Bru is purple-colored with an excellent nose of cedar, smoke, mineral, black cherry, and black currant. Structured, with enough tannin for 5-7 years of further evolution, this intense, lengthy wine will require considerable patience.”– WA91
05 Clos Martinet Spanish Red, Priorat/ Cataluna Grenache Blend $77.97
“The 2005 Clos Martinet contains a significant percentage of old-vine Carinena. Inky purple, it exhibits a brooding bouquet of mineral, scorched earth, black cherry, and black raspberry. Like the Martinet Bru, it has significant tannin but with enough fruit for balance.”– WA93+
05 Quinta Sardonia VT Castilla y León $59.97
05 Pingus Ribera del Duero $674.97
“The 2005 Pingus spent 18 months in new oak. It is purple/black and a bit muted at present. However, notes of toasty new oak, mineral, scorched earth, espresso, blueberry, and blackberry can be discerned. It is a true tour de force. Kudos to Peter Sisseck for a brilliant and enthralling set of wines.”– WA99
