PJ Wine Sponsors
Grand Tasting 2004
To Benefit City Harvest

Grand Tasting 2003
The opening moments of last year's sold out Grand Tasting.

Thanks to all of you who joined us for Grand Tasting 2004. It proved to be a smashing mix of food, wine and wine education celebrating City Harvest, the world’s oldest food rescue organization dedicated to feeding New York’s hungry. Sponsored by PJ Wine, the second annual Grand Tasting 2004 to Benefit City Harvest was Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Puck Building in SOHO. It was one of this year’s most exciting wine tastings, with over 60 suppliers of wine from every major wine region in the world. The event featured 500 of the acclaimed wines which made PJ Wine’s "best of" list in 2004.

This grand event was an extraordinary chance to learn about the great wines of the world from PJ’s staff and winery representatives. Additionally, PJ Wine School conducted mini wine seminars. Included Château Haut Brion labelin the all-star list of wines at the event were ’96 Dom Perignon; ’01 Phelps "Insignia"; ’00 Barolo and Barbaresco from master winemakers Bruno Giacosa and Bartolo Mascarello; Super Tuscans including Sassicaia, Solaia and Tignanello; Spanish stand-outs Numanthia, Alvaro Palacios "L’Ermita" and Vega Sicilia "Unico"; Bordeaux stars Vieux Château Certan, Château Ausone; Château Haut Brion, Château d’Yquem; and many more.

This year, together with our charity partner City Harvest, we added a great line-up of Chefs, who donated their mouth-watering cuisine. Featured culinary talents included Marcus Samuelsson and Nils Norén of Aquavit, John Doherty of The Waldorf=Astoria, David Honeysett of Zoë, David Walzog and René Lenger of Strip House, and Scott Campbell from @SQC. They will be joined by top food purveyors D’Artagnan, Cheese from Spain and Lavazza Coffee, who offered indulgent samples of artisanal cheeses, chocolates, foie gras and coffee, a wonderful complement to the astonishing selection of fine wines on hand at the event.

For the ultimate connoisseur, we offered a V.I.P. Admission which included a special tasting of top Bordeaux and Champagne selections as well as early entry with the opportunity to taste the wine and gourmet food selections prior to General Admission attendees. All attendees were treated to the "Champagne Lounge," a tasting of dozens of the world’s best Champagnes and sparkling wines, and also had the opportunity to meet renowned importer Terry Theise, who showcased select Grower Champagnes from his portfolio. And to close the event on a sweet note, the "Dessert and Stickies" bar featured exceptional dessert wines, premium Lavazza coffee and pastries by acclaimed pastry chef Pichet Ong of Spice Market and 66 and Jason Licker of The Peninsula New York.
