France
05 Château Beauséjour Bordeaux Red $6.99
Soft berry, warm vanilla and bitter-sweet mocha aromas lead through a lush palate centered upon layers of ripe red cherry flavors interjected with classic herbaceous notes and a velvety sweet finish.
06 Bieler Père et Fils VdP des Maures “Sabine” $8.99
Sabine has become a staff favorite and the 06 vintage does not disappoint. The color of this rosé is a beautiful salmon, fringed with cotton candy pink. The wine shimmers in the glass with aromas of sweet rose petals, strawberry jam and candied watermelon; backed by Bing cherry sweet-tart notes that dazzle across the palate. While some more traditional Provence rosés tend toward a leaner profile with high acid on the finish, Bieler is blended for a more generous mid-palate and a softer finish dominated by ultra ripe sweet stone fruits. This is wine to serve as an apéritif, with lighter chicken dishes, river fish and hearty garden salads.
04 Calvet-Thunevin VdP des Côtes Catalanes Grenache/Carignane “Cuvée Constance” $12.99
“A brilliant effort from St.-Emilions bad boy, Jean-Luc Thunevin, and Jean-Roger Calvet, this 2004 was produced from a 25-acre old vine vineyard planted with 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 10% Carignan. After aging in concrete vats, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered. It boasts tremendous intensity as well as a big, sweet bouquet of creme de cassis, black cherry liqueur, licorice, and roasted meats bathed in Provencal herbs. With superb purity, full body, and no hard edges, this savory, mouthfilling red will drink well for 2-3 years.” WA 90
NV Charles Ellner Brut Sparkling Wine “Réserve” $33.99
“An opulent Champagne, with mushroom, toast and honey aromas and flavors. Appealing, this draws you in with its lush texture and supple mousse. Fine length, with a long vanilla- and honey-tinged aftertaste.” WS 91
03 Château Coufran Haut Médoc $19.99
“This primarily Merlot-based wine represents an excellent effort from this property. This deep plum/ruby/purple-tinged hussy boasts plenty of jammy black cherry fruit interwoven with notions of smoke, vanilla, and white chocolate. It is a sexy, up-front, fleshy effort with low acidity as well as abundant fruit, glycerin, and texture.” WA 89

“Green-gold. Ripe tangerine and succulent herb aromas, with a gentle mineral overlay. Round, flesh flavors of soft citrus fruits and ripe pear. Turns juicier on the back, picking up a light peppery note and finishing with a sweet tangerine flavor. Lively but in no way austere.” IWC 90
05 Château de Fesles Anjou Cabernet Franc “Vielles Vignes” $8.99
“Delightful, with dark, ripe cherry, plum and currant fruit followed by tobacco and mineral notes on the fresh finish.BL3661” WS 89
05 Domaine “la Garrigue” Côtes du Rhône “Cuvée Romaine” $10.49
“The 2005 Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Romaine, a blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, and 10% Syrah, is a fabulous example of how high quality Cotes du Rhones can be. Made under the auspices of the brilliant oenologist Philippe Cambie, this wine comes from the estates oldest head-pruned vines of 60 to 90 years old. Dense ruby/purple with terrific black cherry and black currant fruit, full-bodied essence of Provencal fruit, herbs, incense, and spice, this essentially tastes more like a Vacqueyras than a Cotes du Rhone and is beautifully ripe, full-bodied, opulent, and also vibrant, which is in keeping with this top-notch vintage. Drink it over the next decade. The following three custom cuvees were personally selected by Eric Solomon and are bottled under his instructions unfined and unfiltered. They are available only in the U.S. market. In essence, that means that any bottlings without his importer strip label on them would be from the gray market and would not be the same cuvee.” WA 91
01 Château Giscours Margaux Troisième Cru Classé $47.97
“Incredible aromas of flowers, currants, blackberries, and minerals. Full-bodied, with a supersolid core of fruit, incredibly finely knit tannins and a finish that goes on and on. This is really superb. Much better than from barrel. Giscours is really going places.” WS 92
05 Terra Burdigala Bordeaux White “La Vigne dArgent” $7.99
La Vigne d'Argent is made from vineyards located in the north of Entre-Deux-Mers. This gem possesses a great freshness, fruit and is a pleasure to drink. This combination of rich Sémillon grapes with equally complex Sauvignon Blanc makes for a vibrant and highly flavorful white that is right at home with picnic ham, shellfish, lobster, spicy Chinese and creamy soups.
05 Château Charmes-Godard Côtes de Francs $25.99
“Another excellent vintage for Bordeaux's dry whites, which tend to be vastly underrated and exceptionally long-lived (30-40 years in some cases). The 2005s possess crisp acidity as well as serious weight, richness, and texture. Space constraints did not allow full tasting notes, but this is one of the top 2005 dry white Bordeaux wines.” WA (89-90)
02 Hubert de Montille Pommard Les Pezérolles Red $80.99
“Medium red. Subtly complex aromas of cherry, earth and smoke, lifted by a violet topnote. Sweet, pliant and soil-inflected; rich, dense and chewy. This shows terrific grip and energy, and shows little sign of the bottling, which took place in April. Very long, building finish features a note of red licorice and a repeating floral element.” IWC 92
01 Olek-Mery Chinon “Cuvée des TireauxVielles Vignes” $23.99
“Tobacco, black cherry and currant flavors run through this medium-weight red, with notes of dried herbs and sweet smoke coming in on the back end. Puts on flesh with air, too. Nicely done.” WS 88
04 Château Pesquié Côtes du Ventoux “Terrasses” $11.99
“The 2004 Pesquie Terrasses, a blend of 70% Grenache that is 60 years old and 30% Syrah that is 30 years old, all aged in barrel, is an amazing wine for an astonishingly low price. Deep ruby/purple with notes of truffle, tar, blackberry, and cassis, the wine is vibrant, full-bodied, lush, and ideal for drinking over the next 4-5 years. It is nearly too good to be true, and many people familiar with wine in that price range will be absolutely amazed by its sheer concentration and character, so be prepared. Chateau Pesquie certainly ranks among the top two or three estates of the Cotes du Ventoux.” WA 90
Germany

05 J. J. Christoffel Ürziger Würzgarten Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Riesling Kabinett $17.99
“Bright and tangy Light on its feet, displaying lime, apple and mineral notes. Needs time to knit and open, but should be ideal around summer 2007 for its fresh fruit flavors.” WS 90
05 Heribert Kerpen Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Riesling Kabinett “Wehlener Sonnenuhr” $15.99
“The 2005 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett was harvested at Auslese must weights and weighs in at 9% finished alcohol, but still manages to evince some of the requisite delicacy and drinkability of the genre. “And besides,” opines Kerpen, “I have to offer my customers something as Kabinett each year.” Site-typical hints of apple and vanilla lead to a sappy, juicy palate with a subtle and alluring suggestion of creaminess and more stuffing and a riper personality than one would normally anticipate with Kabinett. A long, subtle finish displays dried apple, vanilla, and slate.” WA 90
05 Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Riesling Kabinett “Josefshöfer” $19.99
“Almost opulent, with a creamy texture. An open, alluring white, with citrus, vanilla cream and slate notes. Has enough structure to keep it well-defined and lively. Fine length.” WS 91
05 Georg Albrecht Schneider Rheinhessen Riesling Kabinett “Niersteiner Paterberg” $11.49
“A hint of banana in the aroma, followed by vanilla cream and mineral notes. Rich midpalate, with moderate structure and a tactile finish.” WS 88
Italy
04 Altesino Rosso di Montalcino $12.99
“An exceptional bargain, this tank-aged blend of 80% Sangiovese and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon comes across like the “poor persons” Brunello di Montalcino. It exhibits a pronounced nose of sweet berries, forest floor, fresh mushrooms, and spice. Wonderful fruit, medium to full body, surprising opulence and flesh, and a long, heady finish...” WA 90
03 Antinori Chianti Classico “Peppoli” $15.99

This full-bodied beauty possesses superb texture and depth.” WA 91

This medium-bodied, concentrated, unbelievably low-priced red is too good to be true.” WA 90
05 Falesco IGT Umbria Vermentino/Verdicchio “Vitiano” $7.99
“The crisp, elegant 2005 Vitiano Bianco, an equal part blend of unwooded Vermentino and Verdicchio, offers loads of tropical fruit, good body, impressive purity (a hallmark of all the Cotarella wines), and impeccable balance as well as length. It provides a heck of a glass of dry white for the price!” WA 89

05 Fleur du Cap Coastal Region Chardonnay $8.99
“Straw-yellow color. High-toned, expressive aromas of peach and honey, plus a whiff of coconutty oak. Sweet, suave and nicely concentrated, with a subtle vanillin oakiness to the tropical fruit, yellow peach and lemon drop flavors. Nicely silky wine that finishes with a firm edge and good grip. Still a bit oaky.” IWC 88
