The finish lingers with red fruit flavors and silken notes of ripe tannins. Enjoy this stellar Malbec with grilled steak.

08 Goulart Torrontes $8.99
Torrontés is Argentina's signature white wine varietal. The grapes are fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve its lively fruit acidity and floral bouquet. Subtle citrus and floral aromas, plus a hint of licorice. Intensely flavored and firmly built but not at all hard or tart, with notes of grapefruit, lemon, white flowers and spices. Lovely subtle, aromatic torrontes with a well-judged touch of residual sugar. Enjoy with seafood and spicy dishes.
08 Alamos Mendoza Torrontes $7.99
The Alamos Torrontés captures all of the explosive aromatic character of this Argentine grape, with lively notes of citrus and peach fruit interwoven with delicate layers of jasmine blossom and fresh herbs. The wine is light and fresh on the palate with excellent balance and finishes with bright, crisp acidity.
06 Mendel Malbec $24.99
“The entry-level 2006 Malbec was sourced from a 78-year-old estate vineyard, aged for 12 months in 40% new French oak, and bottled without fining or filtration. Purple-colored, it exhibits an impressive nose of wood smoke, tobacco, rose petal, blueberry, and black raspberry. This leads to a medium-bodied wine in which notes of cola, coffee, and caramel emerge on the palate. Elegantly styled, with racy flavors, good balance, and a pure finish, it will evolve for 2-3 years but can be enjoyed now. Mendel's talented winemaker is Roberto de la Mota of Cheval de los Andes fame.”– 92 WA
Australia
06 Tempus Two Melange $15.99
The delicious Melange is a blend of Rhone varieties: Marsanne and Viognier, with a small amount of Roussanne, all Hunter Valley grown. This is lively stuff. The nose brims with floral notes that cue in a palate that's substantial and fleshy, rich in dried apricot and peach flavors. The Melange is medium-bodied, balanced, and convincingly layered: quince and green melon join the juicy peach notes before closing dry and long, with hints of lemon and orange oil on the finish. In its intriguing profile, it is rather like the famous Conundrum made by Caymus in Rutherford. You could pour it equally well with sashimi, and it would work fabulously with a schezuan chicken salad.

06 Tempus Two Barossa Shiraz $15.99
The Vine Vale Shiraz is sourced from old vines grown in Vine Vale, a small pocket of the Barossa nestled at the foot of Mengler's Hill. It is robust and rich in fruit-forward Barossa character. A swirl of the glass reveals explosive scents of black cherry and blueberry compote rounded by classic Barossa chocolate and licorice touched by smoke. On the palate, this is full-bodied and spicy, deep with ripe blackberry flavors which merge into plush plum and blueberry jam supported by silky tannins redolent of unsweetened Valrhona. There is a lovely purity of fruit here: it absolutely begs for Angus beef burgers grilled to medium rare, slathered with melted aged cheddar, and dressed with a balsamicky onion relish.
06 Keith Tulloch “Per Diem” Quantum Red Barossa Valley $13.99
A balanced blend of three varieties (44% Shiraz, 43% Cabernet, 12% Durif) from three source areas, bursting with bright and generous fruit. Deep red in color, on the nose you get black cherry, flowers, exotic spice and richer raspberry and minty hints. This medium bodied red wine is soft yet bursting with vibrant ripe black plum and cherry sweetness and a complex savory velvet mouthfeel. The tannins are soft and there is some lively acid on the finish.
05 Elderton “Nurioopta” Barossa Valley Shiraz $28.49
“The 2005 Shiraz “Nurioopta” is purple/black with a brooding nose of smoke, tar, licorice, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied and voluptuous, it is dense and concentrated, with gobs of spicy black fruit flavors. It will evolve for 3-5 years and drink well through 2020.” – WA 94
Austria
08 Gobelsburger Gruner Veltliner, Kamptal $12.49
The nose of this Grüner is as pretty as its price is low. Fresh, ripe peach and green apple aromas are wrapped in a diaphanous cloak of florals, all of which are underpinned by gently crushed Mirabel hints. On the palate, as on the nose, the wine is ultra-detailed. It explodes in the mouth with white pepper, peach nectar and candied citrus notes which persist though the mid-palate. On the back-palate and very long finish flavors of ripe papaya laced with crushed stone and peach pit fan out elegantly, leaving you craving another mouthwatering sip. Drink this on its own or with grilled fish or kielbasa.

On the nose it shows great Pinot typicity, displaying scents of red cherry and cherry pit, accented by notes of black tea and hints of fresh turned earth. In the mouth the wine offers good body with excellent integration and balance, as well as ripe, juicy and structured fruit. Red berry and cherry flavors intertwine with tea tones and hints of raspberry and smoke that linger on the finish. A hands-down great value.

This Riesling really becomes complex and energized in the mouth, with plum, nectarine, and black currant shot through with herbal extracts and a memorably pungent, subtly smoky minerality, and finishing with invigoratingly tart fruit skin and bright lemon in counterpoint with smoke and a hint of honey.
