PJ Wine has just received a new shipment of the highly popular 2002 Cinco Tierras Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. Our original shipment, about 60 cases, sold out in only 3 days. Fans should make their purchase now, before stock runs out again. If you havent tried this wine yet, youre missing out on one of the best red wine values available at PJs right now. With a 10% case discount, this wine is a perfect case purchase Cabernet to have in your cellar all year round. PJ's source for Argentine wines in the U.S. is Mediterranean Wine Imports, owned by Mickey Vail. Mickeys wines come from two separate bodegas: Cinco Tierras and Bodegas José Blanco. Cinco Tierras produces the value-oriented Sorbus wines and the Cinco Tierras estate wines. Bodegas José Blanco produces the organic Andalhue Malbec. We believe that these labels, by now familiar to most PJ Wine customers, represent the best value wines available from Argentina today. In the U.S., they are sold only at PJ's. The winemakers Hector and Pablo Durigutti work at both Cinco Tierras and José Blanco. Hector, 35, is considered one of the top winemakers in Argentina and he is an authority on the Malbec grape. He has gained valuable experience working with Italian winemakers Antonini and Paggli at Altos Las Hormigas and he continues to consult there. Hector manages the vineyards for the bodegas. Pablo, 27, has gained experience at Rutini in Mendoza and is responsible for all winemaking decisions at both properties. Both properties feature low-yielding, old-vine vineyard sites at altitude in Mendoza. Although each wine has its own personality and is a distinctive expression of Mendoza vineyards, there is a ripe, juicy and harmonious character clearly evident in all the wines. This is a testament to the high quality of the winemaking. A recent re-tasting of these wines upon arrival at PJ's has confirmed their excellence. The 2002 Cinco Tierras is a chewy Cabernet that offers spicy, wild herb and black fruit aromas with a classic trace of graphite. On the palate it features extremely ripe, black currant fruit with a rich touch of toasty oak, great acidity, definition and linear development. Pair this very high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon with grilled rare porterhouse steak and horseradish sauce, venison stew, or roast beef with wild mushrooms. PJs 93 Chris |
