Fontal is a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and is sourced from some of the Cantarero familys oldest vines, planted in calcareous, clay and loam soils. All harvesting is done by hand and the wine is fermented in stainless steel vats, aged for 12 months in American oak barriques and then bottled unfined. Deep scents of plum, black cherry, warm red berries and chocolate play off of cedar notes on the nose. Rich black fruit, bramble hewn red berry flavors, caramel infused chocolate, and white pepper notes coat the palate and are framed by supple tannins. This is a fantastic red for the money. Serve with char-grilled burgers, steak, smoked sausages, or hearty stews. Donald |
