Jean Baumard bought the estate in 1955 and immediately restructured the vineyards. He was a passionate and gifted winemaker. He taught his son Florent Baumard, who took charge of the property and the winemaking in 1987. First meticulously following his fathers methods, then adding his own techniqueswhile always respecting the expression of each terroirFlorent has achieved a portfolio of consistently excellent wines with explosive aromas and great depth. This superb white offers concentrated notes of chalk infused pear, almond, creamy nougat and a hint of blooming yellow roses. The palate carries ample white fruit flavors that are laced with citrus notes. Creamy mineral textures are backed by pear blossom infused acidity that rides into a lively finish. This beauty is ideal with lobster, pork loin and apricots, herb encrusted grilled chicken, or simply by itself. Donald “Superb aromas of almonds and minerals can be found in the nose of the 2002 Savennieres. Medium-bodied, revealing gorgeous depth, this dry effort boasts loads of limestone, almond, and candied citrus flavors in its rich, wonderfully ripe personality.“ WA 91 |
