The name Bigaro means “speckled” in the Piedmontese dialect and refers to the wines delicate, translucent ruby pink color from the blend of Moscato and Brachetto grapes. The Brachetto not only lends the wine its beautiful pink color, but it shifts the flavors from tropical fruitslike guava and mango in the direction of red fruitssuch as plum, red cherry and strawberry. The wine is vinified in exactly the same way as Perrone's Moscato and is comparable in its residual sugar level, low alcohol, and creamy bubbles. Robert Parker called the debut vintage of Bigaro “beguiling.” Now in its sixth year, Bigaro has acquired a loyal following, and the small production doesn't go very far. This is a customer and staff favorite with its mouthwatering bouquet of strawberry jam and blueberry compote. Pink, lightly sweet and softly sparkling, the body is a delectable expression of sun saturated strawberry, black plum, guava nectar, apricot, pretty rose hip and a touch of white peach. Perrones Bigaro is simply perfect as an apéritif or sensational paired with fresh fruit and berries, red velvet cake, a wide range of sorbet or even nutty/chocolaty desserts. Donald |
