WINES : FRANCE : Bordeaux
At the heart of the wine universe lives Bordeaux. It is the gold-standard, the benchmark, the oracle of all things vinous. If wine is good, it is compared to Bordeaux. If it is age-worthy, it is compared to Bordeaux. If it is collectable, an investment, or something to hold onto to like a prize, then it is either compared to Bordeaux or from it.
Like many wine drinkers, we cut our teeth on Bordeaux and in its inky, structured beauty. We first fell in love with the grape, and its potential, in Bordeaux; and when we want to rekindle that spark, that excitement, it’s where we return. Through the years we’ve watched its value increase beyond reason, and its quality continue to improve and set the standard for wine everywhere. There isn’t a wine region on planet earth that hasn’t been affected by the techniques and the quality forged in those grand appellations along the Gironde.
Each year we travel to Bordeaux to taste the new vintage, and invest in those wines we know our customers demand and expect. But we also hunt for the petite châteaux, the garagistes, and the smaller AOCs who are making vin de garde at a fraction of the prices of the First Growths.
We pride ourselves on our deep stock and variety, and we always carry something to satisfy all fans of the region. From the bell pepper scents of the classicists, to coffee bean infusion of the modernists; from Left Bank to the Right, from St. Emilion to St. Estephe, we have a flavor for everyone.
