Hugel "Cuvee Les Amours" AOC Alsace Pinot Blanc 2008 (750ML)

We're going to go out on a limb and say that probably not too many wine drinkers are intimately familiar with Alsatian whites. If German Riesling is the perennial underdog in the battle for Grand Vin, Alsace isn't even invited to the tournament. That's a shame, because imbibers are missing out on some genuine pleasure with these wines. Hugel is benchmark producer in the region and as likely a place to discover Alsace as any. For fans of stone fruits-peach, in particular---the 2008 "Les Amours", is not one to pass by. Add to that a cut of citrus, apricot, and zip and there really is a lot to recommend here. Would make a lovely aperitif, especially if you have something to nibble on. These wines are incredibly versatile, but some hard cheese would really be dynamite.
