Light, bright and showing pure, pretty Pinot fruit-the Hofstatter is a very pleasing drink that you can find being poured at Otto Enoteca (Mario Batali's pizza joint) and Frankie's 457---one of Brooklyn's best eateries, along with one of its longest waits (but worth it!).
The tart cranberry freshness of the Pinot, along with its cool weather upbringing, creates a very refreshing, very racy red that really sings with food. Think Burgundy notes of strawberry, mixed with the electric precision of the Loire Valley, and lifted by a bitter orange, northern Nebbiolo-esque expression, and you are on the right track.
