Phillipe Bornard 'Le Ginglet' Arbois Pupillin Trousseau 2009 (750ML)

Sometimes lovingly referred to as "the red fox", there wasn't a single cool wine bar or in-the-know wine-restaurant that didn't have Le Ginglet on its list in 2011 and for good reason. This is the style of wine that put reds from Jura on the map for the American consumer: bright cranberry fruit that leans towards Burgundy; piercing acidity that leans towards the Mosel; and a mineral crunch of all its own that screams Jura! loud and proud. Folks, this wine is what all the Jura fuss is about-pure, vibrant, and a total breath of fresh air in a market dominated by bulky, alcohol driven wines that are closer to booze than something you'd want to wash down a plate of goat cheese, or a roasted chicken with. We could drink this by the bucket, if only Phillipe Bornard made it that way. Truth is, while it seemed like it was everywhere, he only makes a tiny amount. Between Williamsburg and Tribeca, we wonder how much he left for himself! - PJ
