Chateau Vieux Maillet Pomerol, Bordeaux 2009

Chateau Vieux Maillet Pomerol, Bordeaux 2009

Extremely dark in color, with powerful aromas of blackberry and tar. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, rich finish. Intense and layered. Very well done. Score range: 92-95 JS

A deep, dense colour in the glass matched by a toasty, chocolate-y, coffee note that dominates the aromas and the palate. Almost a liquor-esque quality throughout and very slippery mouth-feel. Definitely a wine well versed in the Parker passion for all things bold, big and drinkable and will probably show better from now on through the next five years or so. A genuine crowd pleaser for those seeking a little opulence and a taste of "the vintage of the century" for a very reasonable entry-fee. (Tasted from barrel in Bordeaux in March, 2010 and from bottle September, 2012) - PJ
