Chateau Begadanet Medoc Cru Bourgeois 2005 (750ML)
This is classic, sexy Cabernet and Merlot from the gravely, Atlantic soils of Bordeaux Medoc appellation. We're talking a melody of herbs, exotic spices (cardamom!), iron and earth. It's a mouthful of silky cedar wrapped in tobacco leaves and graphite. And with about nine years of age it's in a perfect drinking window. PJ
The 2005 Chateau Begadanet Medoc is everything we want, and are looking for, from a sub $50 aged Bordeaux from one of the great modern vintages. But here’s the beauty: It’s not sub $50, it’s sub $15. Seriously. For anyone on our list who recalls the 2002 Chateau Gillet - perhaps the fastest selling Bordeaux in PJs’ history - then today’s wine echoes those same qualities. If you have ever sampled an aged Grand Vin from France’s most storied wine region, or have dreamed about it, you will instantly recognize the quality here.
