Nicolas Jay Bishop Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 (750ml)

Nicolas Jay Bishop Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 (750ml)

The 2015 Bishop Creek is generous but firm, with spicy notes playing against a roasted, earth-driven depth. Dark fruit flavors of blackberry, black cherry and plum complement the dark and roasted savory qualities of the wine--a touch of savory notes, cigar and smokiness. Despite the richness, Bishop Creek has impressive tension, finishing with lovely texture and focus. This wine is integrated and complex, showing consistent balance and lushness, promising to be very age-worthy. Drink now or age for 20+ years.

Located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, the site features 13.5 planted acres, with 11 of those acres being four different clones of pinot noir. The majority of the pinot noir vines at Bishop Creek were planted in 1988 and 1990, and are own-rooted. Adding to the site’s diversity, the elevations range from 270 to 600 feet, with predominantly North-South plantings. In keeping with their belief in stewardship and promoting a healthy vineyard environment, Bishop Creek has been farmed 100% organically since being acquired by Jean-Nicolas and Jay in 2014. - Winemaker

Brilliant red. A highly perfumed, nuanced bouquet evokes ripe, mineral-tinged red fruit, mocha, candied flowers and incense. Silky and seamless on the palate, showing impressive density as well as energy to the sweet raspberry, cherry and spicecake flavors. The floral notes comes back strong on an impressively persistent, gently tannic finish that leaves suave Asian spice and red fruit preserve notes behind.
