Boal de Arousa Albarino 2018 (750ml)

Boal de Arousa Albarino 2018 (750ml)

Incredible freshness and youthful vigor makes this classic expression of Albarino irresistible. The bright apple and citrus notes are wrapped around a laser beam of acidity. The surprise here is the extra note of minerality that usually only occurs in Albarinos twice this price. This is the perfect summer sipper that will pair nicely with shellfish, fresh vegetables, grilled chicken and of course seafood paella!

Boal de Arousa’s Albarino has everything you would want in an easy-going springtime white, crisp with whip cracking acidity, floral and citrus notes on the palate, and a surprise layer of minerality - yes, Sancerre level minerality! This wine left me longing for nothing, except perhaps a plate of fresh oysters.

Boal de Arousa is in the sub-appellation of Rias Baixas named Barbanza e Iria, situated on the Atlantic coast, 15 meters above the ocean, north of Pontevedra; here resides the vineyards of this small family estate. The wine produced here is entirely from a single, historic parcel called ‘Vina de Louro’. Chosen for its features such as soil, which is decomposing granite mixed with quartz and clay, and orientation, the vineyard has been active for centuries. The grapes are entirely hand-harvested, vinified in tank and left at least 7 months on the fine lees.
