La Posta Bonarda Armando Vineyard 2016 (750ml)

La Posta Bonarda Armando Vineyard 2016 (750ml)

91pts-James Suckling:
"A dense and rich wine with plenty of berry, walnut and light chocolate character. Full body, lovely fruit and a flavorful finish. This is bonarda."

Estela Armando’s family have been farmers in Mendoza since 1887, one year after their arrival from the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. Estela’s great-grandfather started the family wine business by growing grapes and making wine. He would then transport it in leather wines bags by mule train to sell to the workers building the Trans-Andean railroad. The Bonarda vineyard was planted by her grandfather and father in 1963. This combination of unique place, old vines and minimal irrigation creates grapes of unusually high quality.

Estela Armando's La Posta is made from 100% Bonarda grown at an elevation of 2,300 feet. The wine is aged in second-use French and American oak for 10 months. Intense ruby in color, the nose offers bright aromas of fresh red and black raspberries tinged with subtle, smoky oak notes. The flavor of freshly-crushed raspberries is echoed on the palate, along with notes of leather, dark chocolate and a touch sandalwood on the finish. Enjoy with polenta and pasta dishes.
